Hi Bearcats!
I'm excited to be starting my 24th year in public education and my 14th year as an ESL Specialist. It’s a true privilege to support the Emerging Bilingual families and staff of Aledo ISD!
I began my teaching career in College Station ISD, working with 5th and 6th grade math students. In 2012, I had the amazing opportunity to transition into ESL, serving language learners and their families. I’ve always loved exploring different cultures, but I didn’t realize then that it would become a lifelong passion. Helping students grow confident in a new language, while encouraging them to cherish their native one, brings me so much joy. My goal is to inspire my students to become lifelong learners through curiosity and perseverance.
Faith and family mean everything to me! I've been married to my high school sweetheart, Ty Cope, for 34 years, and we have two adult daughters, Joy and Jill. I'm also a proud Lolli to my granddaughter, Melody Jane, and our newest little love, Miles Josiah, born in January. When we’re not playing with the grandkids, we love traveling in our RV, relaxing at Lake Weatherford, and cheering on the OSU Cowboys.
"If you talk to someone in a language he or she understands, that goes to the person's head. If you talk to somebody in his or her language, that goes to the heart."
